George Siguler leads Siguler Guff, a multi-strategy private equity investment firm with over $7.0 billion of assets under management. Prior to founding Siguler Guff, he headed PaineWebber’s Private Equity Group, co-founded Harvard Management Co., and served in the Reagan Administration from 1983 to 1984 as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

There has perhaps never been a time of more activity in the secondaries market as there is today. In the past several years, Coller and others raised huge secondaries funds and were putting them to work in a market where sellers could command a premium. Most recently a partner at Dewey and LeBoeuf, Mr. Morgan joined $8-billion-in-assets-under-management Coller in 2003.

Mr. Young is a Managing Director of Huntsman Gay Global Capital, a private equity buyout fund with over $1 billion in committed capital for middle market LBOs and growth deals. Prior to his tenure at Huntsman Gay, he co-founded Salt Lake City-based private equity firm Sorenson Capital.Mr. Young’s professional football career spanned more than fifteen years in the NFL, mostly with the San Francisco 49ers, where he was voted the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for 1992 and 1994. In 2005, Mr. Young was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He won six NFL passing titles and is the highest-rated quarterback in NFL history.

In this interview, Peter gives us insights into how LGP vets its targets, then generates returns on what it buys, as well as his views on the business services, consumer products, distribution, media and retail spaces, where LGP has been investing since 1989.
