9:30 Panel 1: The Pendulum Swings: LPs Back On Top?
For the first time in several years, fundraising has begun to slow, marking an end to an unprecedented run in capital raising. That’s led to a host of new questions facing limited partners: how to deal with being over-allocated to private equity, how much money to commit to funds over the next two years, how to make sure they’re getting timely, GAAP-compatible return data from their fund managers. Meanwhile, the only leverage the LBO market has been seeing lately is the leverage investors now have on dictating terms. Our panelists will discuss what terms they’ll try to gain ground on, and how.

10:35 Panel 2: Trudging Through The Credit Winter
“We’re busy, but not with new deals.” Lately, that’s been the refrain of many a buyout pro, operating in a time of dislocated debt markets and sagging performance of portfolio companies. On this panel, both buyout pros and lenders talk about how to find, structure and price deals in times that couldn’t be less friendly to credit. Getting BO’s done….without the "L."

Jeremy Coller, Chief Investment Officer, Founder, Coller Capital
There has perhaps never been a time of more activity in the secondaries market as there is today. In the past several years, Coller and others raised huge secondaries funds and were putting them to work in a market where sellers could command a premium. Now, as the economy lurches toward a recession, the advantage has shifted to the buyers, who find themselves with a wide array of choices priced at deep discounts.

2:45 Panel 3: Operations: The Five Most Important Ways To Drive Returns Through A Recession
Roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty. This panel is about jockeys improving the performance of their horses. As a large LP recently told Buyouts, “You’d have to be naïve to not be worried about any deal that was done in the last two years.” Overcrowded auctions and deals priced to perfection over the last few years have left LBO firms little margin for error. In this panel, a group of hands-on deal pros talk about how to keep EBITDA growing at solid performers, and how to make lemonade from the occasional portfolio lemon.
