Robert Olsen: Director - Special Situations Group, Goldman Sachs Canada
Mr. Olsen has over twenty years experience in private equity, corporate finance and lending to medium-sized companies. After working for 5 years with two Schedule I Banks, Robert joined Canadian Corporate Funding Limited (CCFL) and for the next four years led its private placement activities. In 1994, he and his partner took over the firm’s subordinated debt activities and invested approximately $500 million in privately placed subordinated debt securities and equity through three successive pools of capital that they raised from Canadian and US institutions as well as high net worth individuals. In February of 2006, Mr. Olsen joined Goldman Sachs to lead their Canadian investing activities which include providing fully underwritten one stop financings to the mid-market, including senior term loans, second lien and mezzanine debt, as well as equity. In his early twenties, Mr. Olsen was a world ranked member of Canada’s national boxing team and completed an Economics degree and then a MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
