Bill Quinn
William F. Quinn is chairman of American Beacon Advisors. Previously, he served as president of American Beacon Advisors since the firm was created in 1986. American Beacon Advisors manages approximately $60 billion in pension assets and short-term cash assets on behalf of American Airlines and other clients, including the $32 billion American Beacon Funds. Quinn formerly served as a trustee of the Funds, which he was responsible for founding.
Quinn joined American Airlines in 1974, where he held several key financial positions. He assumed the responsibility of overseeing the company's pension funds in 1980, which have been among the best performing in the country during his tenure.
Prior to joining American, Quinn worked for Arthur Young and Co. in New York from 1969 to 1974, where he became a certified public accountant in New York State. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Fordham University.
Quinn serves as the chairman of CIEBA, an organization comprised of the nation’s largest private pension funds that focuses on public policy issues affecting retirement funds. He also serves as a director of American Beacon Advisors, the Hicks Acquisition Corporation, and the American Airlines Federal Credit Union, as well as chairman of the United Way of Tarrant County. Quinn is also on the investment committees of both SMU’s and the United Way of Tarrant County’s endowment funds and on the advisory board of the Dallas Society of Financial Analysts and several private equity partnerships. He currently serves on the New York Stock Exchange’s Pension Managers Advisory Committee. In 2004, Quinn was appointed by the Mayor of Dallas to chair a task force reviewing the City’s employee retirement fund for civilians. In 2004, he received Institutional Investor’s inaugural Award for Excellence in Investment Management among corporate pension funds. In 2007, PLANSPONSOR magazine named American Airlines the Corporate Plan Sponsor of the Year. Quinn has formerly served on the board of directors of Crescent Real Estate Equities, Inc. and the advisory board of the SMU’s Cox School of Business and is a frequent speaker on investment matters to industry groups.
