Gene Miao: Managing Director - Highland Capital Management
Mr. Miao is responsible for managing Highland’s activities with the private equity community. He has over 20 years of investment banking experience and broad relationships in the leveraged finance and financial sponsor communities. Mr. Miao began his career at Morgan Stanley, where he spent over 10 years in the Investment Banking Division and was a founding member of Morgan Stanley’s High Yield Capital Markets Group. He was also a senior member of the Sponsor Coverage and Corporate Finance Groups. Mr. Miao continued his career at Merrill Lynch where he was a Managing Director in the Financial Sponsor Coverage Group and managed the firm’s relationships with private equity sponsors for a full range of investment banking products for over 5 years. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Miao was a member of the firm’s Debt Markets Commitment Committee and the Equity Commitment Committee. Prior to joining Highland Capital, he was a Managing Director at CIBC World Markets leading the large cap effort in the Acquisition Finance Group. Mr. Miao is an honors graduate of Harvard College and received his Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
