Stephen Lerner, Director, Private Equity Project Service Employees International Union
Stephen Lerner is an Assistant to the President of SEIU and the Director of the SEIU Private Equity Project. The SEIU Private Equity Project is helping to broaden the national conversation about the impact of private equity buyouts on America and challenging the buyout industry to use its size and influence to create more economic opportunities for working Americans.
In his work at SEIU, Stephen has launched and led efforts by property services workers, including janitors and security officers, to lift themselves out of poverty.
Stephen Lerner has been a union organizer for a number of different unions for over 25 years. He started organizing with the United Farm Workers of America on the grape and lettuce boycott. He helped garment workers organize in North Carolina, South Carolina and other southern states. Stephen also serves on SEIU’s Executive Board.
