Marc Sacks, Senior Managing Director and Head of Private Equity Investments, Mesirow Financial

Marc Sacks joined Mesirow Financial in 2004. Mr. Sacks is head of Mesirow Financial Private Equity, which manages approximately $2.0 billion in capital commitments to private equity partnership Fund-of-Funds and direct/co-investment Funds. Mr. Sacks is a member of Mesirow Financial’s Executive Committee, Board of Directors and the MFPE Investment Committee. He has 17 years of private equity investment experience and a multitude of top-tier private equity manager relationships in the U.S and Europe. Throughout his career, Mr. Sacks has participated in the approval of investment commitments to more than 300 U.S and European private equity partnerships. Prior to joining Mesirow Financial, Mr. Sacks was a senior partner for eleven years at Adams Street Partners, where he was active in all aspects of the firm's partnership investment activities, including deal sourcing, executing due diligence and monitoring primary and secondary private equity commitments. Previously, Mr. Sacks was the program manager of private investments for IBM Pension Fund, where he invested in both U.S. and European private equity investments. From 1987 through 1990, Mr. Sacks worked at Chemical Bank, where his initial assignment was in the Fixed Income Division of the Capital Markets Group, and he subsequently worked as a corporate finance associate in the bank's Latin America Group. Mr. Sacks has served since 1998 as a member of the Cornell University Private Equity Sub-Committee, on behalf of the Cornell University Endowment. He is a frequent speaker at private equity industry conferences and panel discussions. Mr. Sacks received his master of business administration degree from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens College. Mr. Sacks serves as a member of the National Venture Capital Association, the Illinois Venture Capital Association, and The Executives' Club of Chicago.
