David McGovern: Founder, Marlin Equity Partners
David McGovern is the founder and Managing Director of Marlin Equity Partners, LLC, a $365 million special situations-focused private equity firm. Marlin invests in businesses that are experiencing varying degrees of operational, financial or market-driven change, across a wide range of industries. Since Marlin’s inception in 2005, Mr. McGovern and the Marlin team have acquired over 20 companies in the technology, business services, healthcare and consumer sectors. Mr. McGovern has significant expertise in the mergers and acquisitions process, corporate strategy, turnarounds and acquisition integration. Prior to founding Marlin, Mr. McGovern spent six years at Gores Technology Group where he was a Managing Director and Head of Mergers & Acquisitions. He was also a member of the Investment Committee of Gores Capital Partners, L.P. Mr. McGovern has served as an officer and/or board member for numerous highly successful businesses, including Solarsoft, Intuitive Manufacturing Systems, Aldon Computer and, while at Gores, Verifone, The Learning Company, Aprisma Management Technologies, Anker Systems, Real Software, WireOne, MPC Computers and Proxicom, among others. Previously, Mr. McGovern was a senior investment banker at CIBC World Markets and an attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Mr. McGovern earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center where he was a member of the law review and a B.S. in Finance from Louisiana State University (Beta Gamma Sigma).
